Brake pad developer/ Friction Material specialist
Development and test of friction material for brake products and test in coordination with internal experts, suppliers and customers, assuring meeting performance according to Continental and/or customer requirements getting validation and approval
Coordinate the selection of friction material composites together with the designers, testers, suppliers and customers, in order to meet the performance and pads defined in the development of calipers or Drum brakes.
Provide technical lead to suppliers, plant and customers to solve topics regarding product performance.
Revise and prepare information for Quotations (Technical Product Definition, Presentations and reports) for internal and external customers.
Review and pursue a modification of ATE standard,if needed, according to the tests results. and based in the corporate guidelines.
Perform technical audits to suppliers in new launches and localization to validate capabilities and report on standard company formats.
Procure for development of fixtures and testing equipment to make tests meet the standards.
Analyze the impact of deviations with technical fundamentals to determine its feasibility
Strong knowledge about composite materials, friction, tribological sciences.
Evaluate compiled data, usage of statistical tools and application of DOE (Design of Experiments) of test and reports to correlate the results
Audit, coordinate and perform tests and validations according to international and/or customer specifications on daily work applicable to the product and test procedures.
Evaluate and Identify risks based on results of tests and report for risk assessments to prevent safe launches on new products.
Create test plans according to the requirements of the parts and materials for its validation and make written reports.
Establish the parameters for control of friction material properties based on results of validations, and provide input for designers to add information to drawings
Review and interpret engineering drawings to get information for daily analysis for work in process.
Train people from other areas or departments and clarify doubts about the products according to competences
Create reports of the daily activities easy to be understood by the readers giving the desired impact
Get in contact with colleagues from other regions to assure the needed results on the tests perfomed and reports.
Bachelors degree in Engineering (With friction material knowledge and/or tribology and/or material science related ). Graduated.
Technical master degree desired
At least 2 experience working or developing or testing brake friction materials.
Fluent english to have technical conversations
Core tools Knowledge (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, CP, SPC, MSA)
