In modern vehicles with their multitude of comfort and safety functions, electronic control units (ECUs) play a central role. In addition to the basic functions, significant additional functions are increasingly being implemented, for example in the areas of communication and network functionality, comfort, safety, security, autonomous driving or electromobility. The trend is towards high-performance ECUs with multiple processors and modern software architectures.

As a software project manager, you will be responsible for a functional area within the software development of our complex Body Control Modules (BCM) ECUs. You will lead the respective sub-project managers who are responsible for components or sub-functions within the scope of new ECU developments for one of the major vehicle manufacturers.

In the environment of Agile methods (SAFe - Scaled Agile Framework), your role will develop into Product Manager (PM) within an Agile Release Train (ART). Together with your Product Owners, you will manage several Scrum teams with the common goal of bringing the product to production.

The work will be done in interdisciplinary project teams in an international environment. In this context, compliance with the high quality requirements of automotive technology is a particular challenge.

Among other things, you will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating priorities and schedules with customers, the overall project management as well as the development team; based on this, maintaining the backlog and defining release dates and content.

  • Technical leadership of international teams including guidance and coaching of product owners

  • Distribution of appropriate task packages, tracking and release of essential work products

  • Contact person for customers and internal project managers

  • Presentations and presentation of work results to the customer and internal steering committees

  • Contribute to the further improvement of processes and methods; introduce and use modern methods of software engineering, especially Agile methods and to automate processes.

Job Requirements

  • Completed studies in the field of electrical engineering, computer engineering or comparable qualification.

  • Experience in the technical management of employees as well as the management of projects

  • Strong communication skills, ability to work in a team, goal orientation, agile mindset, initiative

  • Experience with processes such as V-model, Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) or with Agile methods such as SCRUM or SAFe

  • Experience in the development of technical software, system software or embedded software, preferably in C or C++ Knowledge of software engineering methods and tools, such as change management, configuration management / version control, build server, test automation, continuous integration, creation and evaluation of metrics

  • Knowledge of related disciplines such as Systems Engineering, Safety or Security is desirable.

  • Good written and spoken German and English skills

  • Willingness for occasional national or international travel

Desirable skills:

  • Experience in the automotive environment with knowledge of Autosar and of communication buses such as CAN, LIN, etc.

  • Experience with Ethernet, BroadR-Reach or IP-based networks (TCP/UDP, HTTP, SOME/IP, etc.)
