Job Description

The Category Purchaser is actively supporting the category management in the definition of the supply strategy and negotiation with suppliers to achieve best market conditions for category.

The position's task area and main responsibility:

--Material strategy

▪ Representation of the Purchasing Organization Category PCB for selective BUs (To be decided) in the region;

▪ Supports the development of the supplier strategy;

▪ Supports the strategy definition process with cross functional partners;

▪ Close cooperation with Corporate Category Manager in the def. of the strategy;

▪ Ensures Continentals requirements are reflected in the strategy;

--Data maintenance

▪ Documents and implements the Strategy and Roadmap for own Category in selective BUs (To be decided) ;

▪ Ensures in time implementation of correct data in the respective systems;

▪ Ensures proper information exchange to/from suppliers to secure capacity needs;

▪ Actively influence the sourcing process during development phase;

--Change management

▪ Ensures fulfilment of requirements with legally binding contracts;

▪ Supports Re-design to cost / cost reduction programs;

--Achieve Best market conditions

▪ Conducts market analysis on potential supplier and sub-supplier;

▪ Develop potential new and existing suppliers;

▪ Manage suppliers to ensure excellent performance ;

▪ Supports improvement programs with suppliers;

▪ Evaluation and qualification of potential suppliers mainly in Asia;

--Material Targets Achievement

▪ Negotiates prices/conditions with suppliers;

▪ Supports annual negotiations to constantly improve the cost situation of Continental Automotive;

▪ Finalizes Contracts with local suppliers corresponding signature rules;

--Communication

▪ Transparent and open and active communication with all interfaces;

Job Requirements

The position's requests advanced knowledge level for :

  • Very profound technical skills in order to develop new supplier;

-Capability to negotiate and operate in different cultures;

-Negotiation, presentation, communication skills;

-Excellent English skills (in writing and speaking);

-Confident in using the usual MS Office programs;

-Assertiveness, team skills and flexibility;

-Enterpreneurial skills to define potential business models with new suppliers;

-Strong network ability within the Asian supply market;

The position's requests basic knowledge level for :

-Strong knowledge about project management, automotive quality standards;

-Basic experience in working with SAP R/3;

-Willing to travel;
